Diagnosis of diseases related to TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) and Free T4 (Free Thyroxine)
The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located near the throat to produce hormones (T3, T4) that promote metabolism and maintain the function in the body. The thyroid also plays an important role in regulating the body weight, temperature, muscle strength, and even your mood. TSH is produced in a gland of the brain called the pituitary. Lower level of the hormones T3 and T4 stimulates the pituitary gland to produce more TSH resulting in higher levels of T3 and T4. When the levels of T3 and T4 hormones are increased, the pituitary gland produces less TSH.
However, if the thyroid is functionally abnormal, the problems of metabolic rate will lead to cause diseases such as hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.
Hyperthyroidism shows overproduction of thyroid hormones to produce energy more than necessary resulting in sweating, losing weight and speeding up pulse.
Hypothyroidism, on the other hand, induces low metabolism due to lack of thyroid hormones resulting in swelling, gaining weight and feeling cold.
If you suspect that you have a thyroid disease, you can check your blood hormone levels through blood tests. The most common markers are TSH and free T4. The VEUS system can measure concentrations of TSH and Free T4 quickly and accurately for proper diagnosis and treatment.
